*Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy is an arts and cultural organization dedicated to supporting youth and families of African descent in Central Brooklyn. Ifetayo was one of only 50 organizations nationwide awarded funding from the Assets for Independence program of The US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Community Services. Ifetayo received the grant to expand its pioneering Financial Education Institute/Individual Development Account program, providing financial education and matching funds to help young people save money to pursue their life plans.
* Staten Island-based Musical Chairs Chamber Ensemble, Inc. received their first grant from the Challenge America program of the National Endowment for the Arts. The $10,000 grant is their largest to date and an undeniable accomplishment.
*Urban Bush Women was awarded a prestigious Artography grant in the fall of 2009, and we are pleased to hear how well the process is unfolding for them. ARTOGRAPHY: Arts in a Changing America is a grant and documentation program aimed at supporting exemplary art-making set within the landscape of changing demographics in America.
